The whole point of setting up this blog was so that I could share some of my writing. So I thought I'd start back to when it all began, the age of 12! Check this baby out:
Horses
Horses may run
and horses my hide
but they are an animal
that we can ride.
I love horses
because they are smart.
Horses will always be
a part of my heart.
When you ride your horse
you will find too,
that you'll love your horse
and your horse will love you!
Don't you just love the innocent mind of a 12yo? Back then I was horse mad so it figures that one of my first poems would be about horses....Horses and food!
Food
I like food
because it is yummy.
It is real filling
when it's in my tummy.
People eat salads,
people eat meat,
but just any food
I eat is a treat!
I like to go to resturants
and use my lovely manners.
Especially a resturant
just like my yummy Nana's!
So food is scrummy
whatever you eat,
especially Maccas
which is a real treat!
Ahem, food and I have always had a love-hate relationship lol.
These next couple of poems are ones I wrote in English class in high school, probably around the age of 14 I think?
The Beach
The beach is a quiet, peaceful place to be
with the cool, calm breeze, calming me.
The waves are softly crashing onto the
ocean floor below,
the slowly dragging back out to sea
rocking to and fro.
I see children running from the waves
the shells and creatures to the beach, are slaves.
The sun is warm and relaxes my soul
as I quietly sit and watch the waves roll.
Fire
Tongues of orange, crackling and hissing.
Booming, roaring, snapping and fizzling.
Grass disappears under blankets of flames.
The woods and the forests will not be the same.
Love's Traits
Love is a step up from lust
Love is when two people trust
Love of oneself causes vanity
Love can drive some to insanity
Love is a feeling of joy
Love of a girl or a boy
Love is a family trait
Love causes people to hate
Love can be of one's possessions
Love can reveal true confessions
Love is and is not a must
Love is a step up from lust.
I think I've poeticised you enough for one night! Yup, I am even making up my own words now. This next one I wrote when I was about 15 I think, again in English class. We were studying Romeo and Juliet.
Eternal Love
When Romeo met Juliet
it was a time of bliss.
First a stare, a word or two
and then the tender kiss.
The young girl was a Capulet,
the boy a Montague.
Their families feuded endlessly
and neither had a clue.
One day the two were married,
but their time of bliss had flown.
Poor Romeo was banished,
Juliet left all alone.
Soon Juliet had faked her death
but her Romeo did not know.
So he drank a flask of poison
hoping he soon too would go.
Juliet awoke
but for her Romeo was too late,
for he had tasted death
and sealed the lovers fate.
For Juliet 'twas all too much
so she too took her life,
to be with her precious Romeo
and remain his loving wife.
Their story ends in tragedy
but fate could not expire,
a love that was ineffable
and forever flames their fire.
I hope you enjoyed a few pieces of my past :)
