So, its been quite a while since my last blog...again! Almost a year *gasp*! I'm a bit slack with my blogging, but I believe I have a good excuse. I have a new job! (Woohoo!). Since the end of last year I have been working in a health food shop - A job which I really love! A job which has also inspired me to go back to study (Am I crazy!?...Yes...or maybe No...). I will be starting a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Nutrition in the next few weeks.
Since working at the store, I have developed such a passion for living healthy that I want to increase my knowledge and skills so that I can use what I've learned from the course, my life experiences, and my Psychology degree, to help others. I'm hoping to become a Nutrition and Lifestyle Counsellor so that I can help others who may have lost their way to get back on track and start taking care of themselves they way they should.
This new-found passion and this great new job have really filled one of the voids in my life. I now feel empowered that I have found one of my purposes in life. I really love helping others so I feel that this new career pathway is the best choice for me. Working at the store has also encouraged me to take better care of myself and become even more aware of the nutrition content of the foods I feed myself and my daughter. We are not perfect, we still consume some less than nutritions foods, but at least 80% of the time we eat healthy.
This job is also very physical (surprisingly). Since working there I have managed to shed about 5kg! The job requires me to be on my feet and doing lots of walking (i.e. chasing customers around the store), and lots of unpacking boxes of stock and putting the products on the shelf ect. I also have to park further way. Our store is in a shopping centre so staff have to park in a specific carpark which requires me to walk up and down a pretty big, long, ramp - Often with a heavy trolley to push if I get groceries after work. So this new job has definitely forced me to be more active.
What else has been happening in the last 12mths....Not much else aside from this actually (are you snoozing yet?). My daughter is approaching her 10th birthday, and she is very much the pre-teen you would expect her to be. Lets just say the word "attitude" is an understatement! When chatting with my fellow Mummy friends, I often refer to living with her as living with Jekkyl and Hyde and I never know who I am going to get! She keeps me on my toes (and probably gives me some grey hair!).
I have still been working on my other passion - my music. I still regularly (well, fairly regularly) upload videos and recordings to my YouTube page. Feel free to check it out, I think the link is somewhere on my Blog....Might need to go on a bit of a 'Where's Wally' hunt to find it ;)
I am still yet to find my Prince Charming....I feel like I only have one void left in my life and that spot is left to be filled by him. I am hoping he is just around the corner, or so I am told. Although I do feel like I am walking in circles, which would explain why I haven't found him around any corners! But they say good things come to those who wait, so hopefully my good guy (i.e. Mr Perfect) is on his way. I just wish he would hurry up a bit! I believe everything happens for a reason and when the time is right, so as lonely as I get, I believe (I hope!) he will be worth the wait.
Ok, I believe I have bored you enough (if anyone even reads this blog anymore). Thank you for reading, and hopefully it wont be too long before I update again. Although, I guess the lapse in blog posts has given me something to talk about!
Until next time, take care of you.
Peace,
Jay

For She's a Jolly Good Fellow
Ok, so it's been quite a while since my last blog...Oops! But I'm here now so I thought I would see if I have anything worth blogging about.
Today was my baby's 9th birthday *sob sob*. I've been sitting here marvelling at how fast these past 9 years have flown past. I must have blinked! I'm a little afraid to blink now in case another 9 fly past me (Note to self: buy matchsticks to keep eyes permanently open).
She has had a great birthday though. We had a nice family party yesterday with lots of yummy food and presents - all the things kids look forward to the most as far as birthdays are concerned. Today she woke up feeling upset that she hadn't had much time to enjoy her new presents, so we decided she was 'sick' enough to stay home from school. So she had a nice day at home making 'music' on her new keyboard, talking to her Fijit Friend, and doing 'work' on her Barbie Laptop. Sounds like a pretty productive day to me! I must say, she is picking up keyboard skills pretty easily. She has learned how to play the chorus of Puff the Magic Dragon, which is great! (At least for the first 100 times it was played). I'm thinking a Mummy-Daughter family band? Me on guitar, her on keys? Hmmm.....
So, what else has been happening you ask? I finally finished my Uni degree (cue hallelujah's!). So now I am officially an unemployed bum hoping that some poor soul will give me a go and give me a job. Fingers crossed hey?!
My music is still going well, I'm still attending a weekly acoustic class with my friend (the other member of our musical duo, still to be named - Suggestions??). We're gradually getting better and learning something new all the time. I have uploaded a couple of new videos to YouTube, and hope to start working on some more soon.
I'm currently coming to you live from my new Acer laptop which I'm loving! It is a million times faster than my old laptop, so much so that I'm having trouble keeping up with it! It certainly makes my 'old' laptop (which is only 3 1/2 years old - although that's dinosauric in the computer world [yep I totally just made that up]).
I really want to get started in learning all about the world of Graphic Design, so this little beast will be my vessel for my experimentation! Oh what has it gotten itself into! *evil laugh*.
Ok, well this is all the info my brain is giving me for now. I hope this finds you all well (yes, you, my millions of loyal followers and fellow bloggers hehe).
Until next time (which I wont leave so long this time......Did I say that last time too?),
Peace,
Jay

Call Me Retro
Oh by the way, look what I bought this afternoon!
I got an email from the Kogan website telling me these were selling cheaply @ $15! Naturally, being a little inclined to be a bit (just a little bit) of a shopaholic and an impulse spender (confession time...), I bought one! Hoping to get either a purple or a green one. In my defence (I swear I'm not guilty Your Honour!), their main selling point, aside from the fabulous colours (ooh pretty!), is that they aim to reduce the radiation emissions when talking on your mobile phone. Or apparently from your ipad/tablet as well! (Seriously, who walks around with an ipad or tablet on their ear??). I think they are a great idea, and whilst the jury is still out on how much radiation emits from your phone (or apparently your ipad), I would rather avoid the risk, and as a bonus, look completely 'retro cool' while using it. Although, there is a possibly I won't use it in public for fear of looking like a 'retro tool'.....
Check them out here: Retro Phones https://www.kogan.com.au/shop/retro-phone-handset-iphone-and-mobile-phones/
But hey! If The Hoff uses one then I can only hope I will look as cool as him! I will post a pic of me using it and hopefully looking very retro too....ahem...cool!
Tuesday Bluesday
As my post heading suggests, today was a bit of a bluesy day. At least it started off that way. Woke up with a killer headache that I just couldn't shake, made worse by the fact that it was a gloomy-looking day outside, and made even worse by the fact I have an assignment due date looming (coupled with zero motivation to do it). To combat my sour mood, I decided to take a couple of nurofen and turn to my dear friend who never fails to boost my mood, 'Mini' (aka my Taylor GS Mini guitar). She and I both wanted to have a go at producing a cover of one of our most loved songs "Skinny Love" by the wonderfilled band, Bon Iver.
After a few (hundred...) takes, we finallly came up with a cover that we were reasonably happy with, and to my amazement I was also headache free! Could be that the nurofen was actually doing its job for once, but I'm putting it down to the healing hands of music.
If you'd like to check it out, you can check it out HERE :) .
So with my improved mood, I then headed to the school to pick up my darling girl, Indi. She was quite chipper; a good sign of a happy day at school. Given that it is a public holiday here tomorrow for Anzac Day, I decided to head to the video shop (do people still call it that? Or am I just old-fashioned?) to see if we can get some movies to get us through the day tomorrow with as little boredom as possible (more rain predicted). So we got some movies and then found ourselves being drawn to the hot chip shop (funny how that happens!). With our hot chippies and movies and knowing I managed to cover a song I really like, I caught Indi's mood and started to feel quite chip-per myself (I refuse to pardon myself for that pun!).
Now we are both sitting on the couch, bellies full of chips and salt, and watching The Grinch (well I'm blogging and watching...women are great multi-taskers!).
I'm going to sign off for now with the hope that you have had a nice Tuesday, however you have spent it.
If you do happen to check out my cover, thank you for watching! Feel free to leave me a comment or subscribe to my channel, or even give it a thumbs up (or down) :)
Until next time,
I wish you peace and music :)
